IBARAKI EXPORTS

RECOMMENDATION

Shiny, sticky, sweet! Koisehime-no-Mai rice has all three.

Blessed with an abundant amount of water and a mild climate, Ibaraki Prefecture is one of the top locations for rice production in Japan’s Kanto region.

This time we would like to introduce Koisehime-no-Mai; a delicious rice that has been carefully grown using mineral water from Mt. Tsukuba.  Koisehime-no-Mai has a perfect combination of being shiny, sticky, and sweet.

Koisehime-no-Mai is produced by Koise Rice Inc in Ishioka City, which has been known for its production of high quality rice.  Koisehime-no-Mai is chosen from the most delicious Koshihikari rice grains that are carefully grown with water from the Koise River that runs from the Tsukuba Mountains to Ishioka City.  The package displays the Ishioka official character Princess Koisehime.  On the backside of the package, Ishioka City’s top tourist spots are written in 6 languages (English, French, Chinese, Korean, Russian, and Japanese).

Koisehime-no-Mai grains are small, have a soft glisten to them and remain sticky even when cooled down.  That deliciousness has been talked about in all sorts of media and the Japan Grain Inspection Association gave it the highest A ranking.

Koisehime-no-Mai delicious cooking methods!

We asked the president of Koise Rice the most delicious method for preparing this rice.

1.         Gently wash the rice in water and then drain the water.  Repeat 3-4 times.  Washing too strongly will result in the rice breaking so being gentle is the key here.

2.         Let the water sit for 30 minutes to an hour.

3.         Subtract 2 teaspoons (around 10ml) of water from the desired amount of water to make the rice a little more firm when cooking.

4.         When the rice is done be sure to mix the rice 3 times more the usual amount.

With this method, you can enjoy delicious silky sweet fluffy Koisehime-no-Mai.

This rice is used in sushi restaurants all over the local area.
Tonkatsu, Yakiniku, Sushi, Grilled Fish, Rice Balls, this rice works with any side dish.

Please be sure to try Japan’s delicious rice, Koisehime-no-Mai.
