Crispy and Super Thin Hoshi-imo! The revolutionary "PRESSTAR" in the hoshi-imo world
Akutsu Hoshi-imo direct selling center's "Hard Hoshi-imo PRESSTAR" is a novel product which puts a new spin on ‘hoshi-imo’, dried sweet potatoes.
Hoshi-imo is an additive-free food made by peeling, steaming, and drying sweet potatoes. It is a quintessential Japanese snack with a sticky texture and rich sweetness.
"PRESSTAR" is hoshi-imo with a new texture, carefully handmade one by one using the press-roasting method (a patented processing and manufacturing method) in which hoshi-imo is baked while pressed, resulting in a super thin, crispy, and crunchy texture.
Since the only ingredient is hoshi-imo, it returns to the texture of a sticky hoshi-imo as you eat it.
Akutsu Hoshi-imo direct selling center is a hoshi-imo shop that grows and sells sweet potatoes (Beniharuka Variety) that have been grown with minimal use of pesticides and carefully processed into hoshi-imo.
We are making hoshi-imo and hoshi-imo-related products with the hope that ‘food can make us better’ which is based on the four concepts: "good people," "good soil," "good ingredients," and "good taste.
Mr. Masaki Akutsu, who is in charge of this project, gave us his recommended recipes for cooking with PRESSTAR.
≪PRESSTAR served with ice cream and chocolate sauce≫
We recommend eating while adding ice cream on top of the PRESSTAR.
♪Chocolate sauce and PRESSTAR is the perfect combination!
■Ingredients (1 serving)
Vanilla ice cream .................. amount to your liking
PRESSTAR ...........................4-5-pieces
Chocolate sauce .................. as needed
■Method
1) Serve in a bowl with desired amount of vanilla ice cream.
2) Insert 4 to 5 pieces of PRESSTAR into the ice cream.
3) Finish by adding chocolate sauce on top.
≪Yogurt in PRESSTAR≫
Berry jam and PRESSTAR make for an excellent treat
♪Breakfast with PRESSTAR as an alternative for cereal♪
■Ingredients (1 serving)
・Yogurt ............................... amount to your liking
・Berry jam (strawberry, blueberry, etc.) ... to taste
・PRESSTAR ..................................... 2-5 pieces
■Method
1) Mix yogurt with your favorite fruit jam.
2) Divide and add your desired amount of PRESSTAR, then serve.
Since ‘PRESSTAR’ is baked one by one, 200 bags per day is the limit on production at this time. However, we have developed a packaging method that protects the product from cracking during transportation, and we have achieved a shelf life of 300 days prior to opening.
